Project 1 or 2

My horoscope for today says, "Creativity is your magic carpet today. Use it to escape reality and get some peace." Since there is nothing on the tube tonight, I think I'll take a "magic carpet" ride. I should be able to get started on my first of my 500 pairs of earrings....

Who me?

Ok, so I know it's a shock, me blogging twice in one day, but something just hit me.

One of my favorite blogs to read is http://swirlygirl.typepad.com/swirly_girl/ , from fabulous artist Christine Miller, and great friend of Melissa. Christine has challenged herself to make 500 creations this year. She has specific definitions of what she will consider a creation. Another of my favorite blogs has decided to borrow Christine's challange for herself and take 8000 photographs.

Well here goes...(hold me to this Melissa and Michael) I am going to make 500 pair of earrings this year. I know 500 earrings doesn't sound like much because they are sort of "instant gratification" when it comes to art, but it will at least get me working again.

Oh boy......

It's all about time

Everyone complains about not having enough time. As I left my yoga class last night, I struck up a conversation with a classmate who was complaining how she really didn't have enough time in her schedule for the Pilates class that she used to take, so she decided to try this yoga class.

I am probably one of the biggest time complainers around. I don't have enough time at work to get everything done. I don't have enough time at home to get caught up on the things I need to do at home. I don't have enough time to get a good night's sleep. I don't have enough to work out in the morning because I have to get my work done. I can't write in my blog because I don't have enough time. Bored yet? I am.

I'm tired of not having enough time. My good friend Melissa said last week that "life is fragile" and it is. I think it's time I stop wasting it complaing about time....

"Time is the coin of your life. It is the only coin you have, and only you can determine how it will be spent. Be careful lest you let other people spend it for you." Carl Sandburg

"Everybody's workin' for the Weekend"

I've always said, since I've been out of retail and not forced to work weekends, that Friday nights smell different. There is just something in the air on a Friday night that feels kind of electric. I love the anticipation of two days to do whatever I want, especially this weekend.

I usually go grocery shopping on Saturdays, but tomorrow is supposed to be awful, with heavy rain possibly ending with snow. So I am going to stay home and putter all day. There are a lot of things that I wanted to do around the apartment that I never seem to have the time to do, like fixing my sock drawer, cleaning out the linen closet and organizing my paperwork for taxes. I also want to attack my craft room that has become a glorified storage bin. (Yes Michael, I will throw stuff out!!)

I am even thinking of taking Monday off so that I will have three glorious days to do things for myself. I need to get back in creative mode in anticipation of my spring craft shows. I read a lot of blogs that talk about their studio space and I would love to get mine in shape again. Having a lot of "stuff" around I am sure is blocking my creativity. And there is nothing better than a rainy day to inspire the stuffing of trash bags :)

Ohm

I started my Yoga class last night and it was fun. I had forgotten since the last time I took Yoga, that I am a very shallow breather. Working through some of the moves was difficult, because I kept running out of air.

It's weird to have to think about doing something that usually comes natural. Now I am going to have to practice "breathing."

Quote of the day

"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover." - Mark Twain

Thanks Melissa!!
